A
diagnosis of breast cancer can be overwhelming
and at this stage support is the only safety
net that the patient can depend on. Family
and friends form the first segment in the
support structure, the care givers and hospital
the next, but it is also important to provide
a voice and a private podium where the patients/
survivors can inter- communicate and form
a link that will help support each other.
Online support groups service this need most
suitably as they maintain the code of privacy
and anonymity that most patients need. Yet
they provide a confidential and supportive
arena where there are many thoughts and challenges
that can be shared with other women who have
had similar experiences.
The goal of this section of the site is to
develop a network of support amongst breast
cancer survivors who access this section,
hence every suggestions is more than welcome,
most wanted. Please help us to develop this
as a place where survivors/patients can come
Online and discuss/ share/support each other
through shared understand- in the warmth of
each other's support.
Though there are no two-breast cancer experiences
exactly the same, still the words of wisdom
that come from experiences are very important
to the social & psychological support
structures.
Those who share their experiences- can choose
to remain anonymous as they support the one's
who need support can often provide the same
support for - and those who have given survivor's
support can learn from those they have helped
- especially regarding new treatments, advanced
surgery and new drugs.
It is win/win situation of mutual help and
support where breast cancer survivors can
help and support other breast cancer survivors
and themselves via interaction -through the
boards, guest books or survivors stories or
online chat rooms.
There are also many survivors' support discussion
formats you can find listed below, find the
one most convenient to you-
